Greddy vs Apexi - Midpipe height?

Postby Jon11582 » Sun Dec 12, 2004 8:17 pm

Anyone ever seen both the Greddy and Apexi to compare the piping?

I'm looking into getting a catback, and was looking at these two. I think the Greddy Evo2 really suits me as far as looks and sound, but I dont like how the midpipe hangs so low, and I know the muffler tip scrapes when backing in into my driveway when lowered. I was wondering if the Apexi WS/WS2 had the same height with the midpipe, and muffler tip size. (planning to be lowered on Tein/Tokico)

If Apexi's got the same issue, even though Id rather have a bolt on solution, I might look into getting a custom piping with a universal or TRD muffler.

I've seen a few Evo and Evo2s on our platform, but never an Apexi

Can anyone enlighten me?

it depends on how you install it.

if you install it the right way, then it wont sit low or sag.

haha, the "right way" is to get new heavy duty rubber exhaust hangers. Mine hung extremely low and moved around a lot because i just noticed that the rubber "8" looking hangers sucked big time. Saw some x-heavy duty ones at Autobacs and decided to hit up Kragen. They had el cheapo ones but they worked fine. I just doubled up on the existing ones and it lifted the entire exhaust like 1/4-1/2inch. Feels a lot more solid. Oh yeah, had the damn resonator removed too, thry stuck the 2nd resonator in the stupidist location... right on the under axle bend area (lowest). Had the shop replace it with straight pipe in place of the resonator and it looks/sounds better than before as well as improved clearance by a lot. Overall after all these things, I prolly got almost a 1inch clearance than before from the lowest bend in the exhaust.
