Hello all

hope you guys have had a merry Christmas, and will have a great new year

anyway...

I need to get tires for my rims, just got them 2 days ago, and just looking at them sit there makes me wanna cry...I REALLY want them on my car

these are 17x7

and I was asking the guy from just tires, he said that for my car, I can either get the 215 50 17 or the 225 45 17
I'm not too sure about these numbers and all, so can you guys help out?

and I also need a good price on tires, since I'm kinda on a budget

no need for yokohama or nitto or dunlop....not a performance oriented car anyway

something decent would do, I guess tire life is the most important

someone got a good price or a good place to go to??? help!

I have a 2001 toyota solara se with 205/65/15

God bless

Kevin

p.s. just for the heck of it...these are the rims I got

Tirerack is the place to go for tires. I get all my tires from there..its cheaper, even shipped, and they can ship em right to the installer. Its also an excellent website, givin u mass amounts of reviews and guidance and ratings on each tire. I think the best bets gunna be 215/50/17 to keep the speedometer reading as close to stock as possible.

I'd recommend the Kumho 714's I have, but they only come in 15 and 16, and thier pretty damn good considering I get them for less than 50 a corner...but no 17+ tires.

Tire racks showing Kumho 711 summer tires for 71 each, or Sumitumo HTR+ all seasons for 76 each. I know Kumho and Sumitumo know how to make tires, so I'd trust either of those.

Remember to not go so cheap on tires, if say you find some no name brand for 20 bucks at your local tire store. Tires are the only thing touching the road...if your tires suck or they fail, you're entire car's pretty hosed. I dont think its a bad idea to look locally, but cross reference either tirerack or 1010tire or some other website to make sure that brand and model got decent reviews.

i paid $10 each... on sacto. i have check 2 store which at that price. if u lower your car u should bet 225-45-17 if not than get 215-50-17 cause i think is cheaper.

dont go with a 50 profile, IMO aftermarket rims dont look good when the tire profile is too high. i would go with 45. mount and balance shouldnt be more than $15 per rim/tire in so cal.

i think if you get it done at discount tire co they have some kind of lifetime free balance/rotation thing. and im pretty sure they charge $15 per rim/tire.

yeah my car is lowered...

so 225 45 17 wouldn't look too small???

I don't want it to look weird, but I guess it'd look better with a low profile

aight thanks guys, probably go to tire rack or discount tires

thanks!

Sorry ppls but Kuhmo sucks. They are cheap, but tires makes horrible noises. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I have Continental tires from Tirerack...$92 per tire, and they are GOOD tires! I found a steal with them. 215/50/17, and it's great as far as potholes and protecting the rim.

$135 ea. not bad compared to other tires I have used on other cars.
I haven't had them that long to provide a treadlife opinion. I'll take your word for it
