well, you can technically LOCK your trunk! if you place in your key in the trunk lid and turn counter clockwise and stop when the key hits "--" position, n then pull your key off the trunk lid, your trunk is LOCKED, you can't remotely open it from your car too, to open it you need the masterkey (hence give valet drivers, valet key and lock the trunk)!

edit: why is this in gen1/1.5, should be moved to general....

I am constanly grabbing the wrong handle when I stop for gas, and this after two years of ownership! I liked the system on my Maxima, with the trunk release on the door panel and the gas lid handle on the floor.

^^ yeah, my Es has the trunk release by the doors too; its seems much more modern.

I've done that before. Keep something cool in your trunk so when you do pop the wrong one, you can get it out and make it look like you did it on purpose. My 91 Camry was like that. I'm glad the 1.5s have the button in the glovebox area :)

Yeah that's a good idea about keeping something cool in the trunk, or just put a hat back there or something until you get it fixed.

I had just the opposite, I had something gay "Stone Cold" standup I was taking as a present for my nephew and I got pulled over. When the Highway Patrolman saw my butterfly knife in the cupholder he told me he wasn't gonna take it but just to put it in the trunk. Forgetting it was in there I opened the trunk and there was my embarrasing moment.
