ive never seen another solara in my color combo either, my dad got it brand new in 2000 and it was the only 4 banger on the lot with 3 V6's. My dad didnt want to spend 5000 for a V6 so he got the only 4 banger.

the filters that come with the short ram are ok with one exception. the end has a fine mesh material yet not fine enought to stop small yet dangerous airborne particles.

I taped off the end, not an engineers approach but it did the trick. BTW, if you see the TRD air filters on ebay, i believe they are fake. I bought one and the car didnt sound 'tough' as it did with the less restrictive air filter.

I would get tthe K&N. Ive heard that the filter is the worst part on the cheapo intakes, which is why they set off CELs. The actual design affects performance, and the cheap intakes arent tested for performance either, but I would get a good filter if you really wanna stick with that intake.

Problem is the K&N is going to cost way more than the intake itself. (I think its around 60 bucks for the Xstream K&N, maybe 40 for the regular).

And I dont think theres anyway to make a CAI out of the ebay intakes. The piping ends way to high up on the engine to be able to snake it down to the spot where you need to feed it to the bottom of the engine. It was quite a trip making the CAI out of the Injen intake, so I think its pretty much out of the question for the ebay intakes.

Take a look at my cardomain if you wanna see what the Injen looks like, and how the CAI hooks up on the 5SFE.

i can probably make one of my own but how do you take out that stock plastic vent that is in the fenderwell and ends somewhere under the battery?

Gotta take out the battery and unscrew the fuse box and push that out of the way.

As far as I remember anyways.

There's one on my campus that color combo. I didn't know if it was factory until now. There is also a red/tan combo around here, fugly as hell. I think it is a respray, though. Was the two-tone a factory option, or was it a dealer add-on?

Lose the filter, and get a quality one. You can make a CIA extension for that pipe, a guy named Brungold on TN made one from a Civic CAI for his Camry, and I copied his design on mine (which I took off when I put my body kit on.)
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Yep, Ive also seen one in South Florida. Most solaras I see here are full of bumper stickers, dents, scratches, or other general abuse.
