Damn 6 disc STOPPED WORKING!

Damn 6 disc STOPPED WORKING!

Postby Sn88pyBQ » Wed Jan 26, 2005 9:41 pm

My damn 6 disc just stopped working for no reason. Gives me an error 3 or something and 6 of my CDs are stuck in there too. It was working fine yesterday night and today it just stopped!

Anybody have this problem too? What did you do to fix it? Now I can't listen to CDs, only tapes and radio works. Sigh

HELP!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

crack it open with a hammer. :o

if there's still some waranty then go to the dealer but if no waranty,
i suggest you take the head unit out, disect it and get your cds.

then get an aftermarket HU.

I would disconnect the battery cable first to reset it and see if that works. If not then take it out and kick it off a bridge! Jaimster...OUT!

Well mine stopped workin' when i bought it.
It means that the timing is out of wack.
You can take out the CD's from the top, but be careful, if you took it to a shop to fix it, then they might get pissed if you took out the CD's.
I took out the CD's that were in my 6 CD changer and i told a OEM radio repair shop that i took it out, and sounded like he almost got pissed.
He said " YOU TOOK OUT THE CD'S!!!!!!, DID YOU DAMAGE THE CD player timing????"
It sounded like he was pissed.
So if you take out the CD's, becareful. Or take it to a shop, it wil cost about $200-$300 to fix i think.
Also depends on what shop you take it too.

Damn! That much to fix a 6 disc CD Changer? For that amount I could get a new HU already but I like the stock look thou.

Hey does disconnecting the battery work? What other stuff will reset if I disconnect the battery?

Any HU that'll look good in the Solaras?

i tell you the quick solution for my 3 cd indash-changer (OEM), i just take the unit out, take a can of compressed air and clean it out, open the screws to dislodge the outercase, and then remove my cd's and then reassemble everything. It worked there after a few times like that....(sometimes it doesn't).

alright i attempted
lets just say that the american stlye of fixing things doesnt work in this particular situation
opened top of unit, broke CD1 to get to CD2 which was out of line. the manual sais Err3 means a physical/jammed problem, but i believe it was electronic because the only reason it was jammed was bc the the various motors and gears did not work in unison. i took all of my discs out and pretty much reset the unit, back to start.... load disc > only pulled the disc in half way,... flippin peace of crap

so what now? well im taking the mounting brackets and bolts and keeping them, and then its getting a good ass kicking for cutting two fingers on my right hand ...

WARNING: Sharp metal corners inside.

so is it working or not?
Usually when err comes for me, its just that there was a cd in position and it was trying to load another one at the same time (i know it shounds stooped, but thats why in indash cd changed err's sometimes).

Yeah you have to be careful when taking out the CD's.
I already had an Alpine HU from my other car.
And i wanted the Alpine in my Solara anyways.
But when i took it to Circuit City, they spliced my 1 plug into 2 plugs for my Alpine.
And i got pissed inside cause; what if i wanted to install my 6 CD changer back.
Oh, well, might as well buy a 6 CD changer from Alpine.
Cause puttin' in 1 disc after the other is a pain while you're drivin' you know.
Guess i can live witout the 6 CD.
