JPP y-pipe question

Postby lazyboyz69 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 11:11 am

i think i'm gonna buy the y-pipe that fits on stock headers... anyone have any problems with CEL? and how much hp does it really give out? and is it noticeable power difference with S/C? oh yea one more..... smog legal in Cali? i just barely passed smog just with my s/c.

Looks like you're running s/c with 6psi. I recommend you save up a little longer and get the entire JP Performance exhaust system from the headers down to the tail pipe. Warning! IT IS NOT SMOG LEGAL in CA. Call them up and ask for Adam. He may be able to get Jose (the man who fabricates the exhaust system) to do something else for you.

Example from my car:

Last year with 4psi. and Apexi WS Exhaust. I ran 15.1 1/4 mile time.

Two months later with 6psi and JP Performance exhaust system and JP Performance headers. I ran 14.03 1/4 mile time.

Special thanks to original Super Solara owner Ericsol for convincing me to buy the JP Performance system. I couldn't be any happier.

Hope this helps and good luck. 8)

you will definitely not pass cali smog.

just swap Y pipes when smog time comes.

i had a HC count of 109 vs max allowed of 52. (with custom Y pipe)
with stock Y pipe i got a pathetic HC count of 7.

perhaps it was the exhaust leak as well.

If you can save up and get the whole system, it's well worth it.

Yes that big of a difference! The stock headers and TRD muffler is restrictive. Don't forget to get some type of EMS too.

^Yeah, but I hear there's going to be a 50 state smog rule. I would have to assume all states will be like Cali.

The JPP set-up looks very nice and has got nothing but positive feedback but it is quite salty. If you are short on funds, perhaps a shop could bend you a custom y-pipe for around $250 or so.

The power gains are huge at the mid and high end.

stock is the only thing out that can pass smog...

there is no time set for swaping of Y pipes. it jsut depends on how fast one can work.
