Rear driver brakes went out today
Well My rear pads on my driver side have been eaten down to the metal backing plate on the pad, the passenger side is fine, leaving me to believe my caliper locked up and wasn't releaseing the pads when I let off the brakes. As I drive I can hear it scraping the rotor now. I think this happened over a few weeks, but I didn't notice anything since the rear doesn't get involved in braking too much, and the noise didn't start until the pads were gone.
Anyway my question is does this mean I need to get the rear calipers overhauled? What could have caused it to lock up and grind down the pad like that? BTW I only have 39000 miles on my 2001 camry. The pads have about 20K use on them, they're OEM and I've got brembo drilled/slotted rotors on the rear.
Any suggestions as to what to do to fix it and also what rotors I should look into getting? For now I'm looking at the slotted rotors from tirerack for 161 a pair.
