P0135 O2 Sensor Problem

P0135 O2 Sensor Problem

Postby Fenix » Mon Jan 31, 2005 7:24 am

Last week, i got my car back after getting boosted from the Arieta Motorsport. 5 min after test driving, the CEL came on. I cleared the code using the ODB-2 scantool. Couple of hours later, the CEL came on again.

The problem is P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit, Bank1-Sensor1 Malfunction.

I know i need to replace the O2 Sensor, but since my car is still under warranty, can i go to the toyota dealer for them to do it ? Or something i have to pay out of my pocket?

Thanks.

btw, i got s/c with 4psi, Denso iridim plugs, Magnacor 8.5 mm wires. What caused the O2 sensor to fail?

Well, i just got off the phone with the Toyota dealer where i bought my car. From the conversation with them, my problem will be taken care of by them.

However, i have another question that since my s/c was installed by a third party (Arieta Motorsport), will the dealer honor the warranty?

I fear that after finding out all the aftermarket stuffs on my car, they will likely shoot me down.

Thanks all

My bank 1(rear bank) o2 sensor went bad also but I never got the engine code for some reason. The TPS had thrown a code and while I had the diagnostic tool on it, I checked the o2 sensors and bank 1 would not fluxuate between rich and lean during idle. I replaced both upstream sensors with OEM at the cost of $135 ea. Sort of salty...

I have 120k miles.

Thai...

Give Raycarlo a call. He's had an o2 sensor malfunction problem before and has taken care of it himself. He may be able to help you out without having to go to the dealer. (Another Northern Va mini meet)

Thanks guys.

I'm gonna drop my car at the dealer, and let them take care of it since i'm still under 5 year warranty. If they refuse to honor the deal since i got those aftermarket parts on, then Carlos Jr. will change the sensor for me free of charge.

This whole s/c thing has driven me nuts. I really haven't enjoyed it at all, hopefully thing will get better and better.

the o2 sensor isnt from the S/C (seeing that you are running stock boost). It was probably on the verge of going bad and it just, coincidentally, went out when you put the s/c on.

They should honor it... assuming there is no aftermarket intake. The plug wires are fine.

Bad news.

I drove my car to the dealer today, and one look at the car & under the hood, they refused to honor the warranty.

Wtf... they said that my car was heavily modified by adding the Greddy Evo2 exhaust, s/c, wire/ fplugs which could caused the O2 sensor's problem and many future problems to the engine and the transmission.

Whatever.

Guess I just have to buy the O2 sensor and take care of it on my own.

Upstream O2 sensors are located in the exhaust manifold, one for each bank. Front bank O2 is easily visible, rear bank (bank 1) is not as easy to access. It would require a crows foot style wrench and it will probably be hard to break. Probably better to have a mechanic do it in your case, ask for the breakdown of parts and labor and consider having both upstream sensors replaced at the same time.[/quote]

I've still got my 2 OEM sensors if you're interested.
8) Don't worry they are in perfect condition and priced to sell.

is hurting the car at all to drive with the check engine light on caused by the P0135 error code. i just got the code recently but don't really have time to go to a dealer.

also i have a trd exhaust and a s/c installed by the dealer. you think they will give me a hard time about covering this under an extended warranty contract?

thanks,
michael
