Wiper Nozzle LEDS and the Law...

I went to install my purple lighted chrome windshield washer lights. I planned on running a switch to automatically power them so I could turn them on and off at my descretion. I think they are a good accent to a car, but not all the time. Is there a DIY or has anyone replaced them, because when I removed the insulation under the hood, there was no apparent way to get to the windsheild washers. It appeared part of the hood was welded over the nozzles. Any help is appriciated.

SolaraFun: If you want to do that you have to cut a hole into the bottom of that welded piece and remove the others. I will be doing this project within the next month or two. I will post pictures and details.

That's unfortunate, I've never drilled like that before. I just spoke with one of my friends from a different forum and he said they just twist off the top. Even if so, there still needs to be a place for the wires to be routed past the tube that carries the water to the nozzle. Guess that is why the drilling is necessary??

hmm, i wanted to install my blue ones to go with my neons but i had the same run in with the metal under the hood. I cant twist mine off, but i didnt try too hard cuz i dont want to break something. Plz update when you figure out how to do this. id rather not cut holes in the metal... i dont hav the tools or the courage to try that. I think they are tacky by themselves, but im hopin they look good if i wire em in with my neons.

I just got done putting on the wiper LED's. Here's a picture.


You can't twist them off, they are bowed/clipped in there and you have to pry them off from the bottom. Ya know.

I just used a Dremel to cut a small square where they are and popped the old ones out and put the new ones in. Took about 3 hours if you are doing it by yourself and are limited tools.
