Hey guys,

I'm thinking very seriously about putting an sc on my 99 sev6. I dont want a lot of blower whine and was wondering what other peoples take on how bad it is. was also wondering if anyone in the bay area of california has as sc and would mind taking me for a ride so i can hear what is typical.

Yeah, stick with the stock intake. I've got the CAI extension, but I LOVE to hear it whine! 8)

You can't do anything about minimizing the "whine". Just don't accelerate beyond 15% throttle.

Get the s/c and you won't be dissapointed. I'm sure you won't mind the "whine" once you push the car. 8)

The whine isn't that bad. Its audible in the cabin, especially with windows up after you hit full boost, but with an aftermarket exhaust, not as much outside the car.

An inherant property of our TRD/Kazuma/Eaton roots blower is a rattle almost sounds like a bearing noise at idle. This is not a problem and some of the other members said it is much quiter if the stock mineral oil lubricant is changed out with a synthetic oil.

When I had the stock air box on, the whine sound was non-existant. Now with the CAI, you can hear that sucker after 3000 rpms.
