i realize that the wattage for my stock 9006 bulbs are 51 watts and the 9005 bulbs u gave me are 65 watts, do u know if there will be any problems with the 9005 bulbs burning out?

Im pretty sure its within the watt tolerance. Ive had no problems as of yet, but also didnt really notice much tangable difference between the 9006 and the 9005 in gen1 housing. Maybe its because my HIDs shine too bright and i cant see the subtle differnece in the yellow - I havent done the independent fog mod yet.

9005s are not rated to last as long as 9006 bulbs when comparing the same brand/type of bulb. I think its somewhere around 50% as long as the 9006 versions.

I had them on my Solara fogs for over 6 months and had no burn outs. Mike aka Flash now owns those 6 month old 9005 bulbs I had on his car Solara and still no burn outs that I am aware of.

I continue to shock people on the durability of the 9005s and how they don't mess up the fog lamp due to extra heat caused by the higher temps.

*Note that I even used the 9005 bulbs on the fogs longer then most people would use since I also have independent fog lamps. I would utilize them at dusk/dawn & overcast days. (In other words often)

I am not for certain though if the gauge number/thickness on the wires are the same for the gen 1 and gen 1.5 though. I don't see why they would be different.

On the gen 1.5 you can see a slight yellow reflection since they got clear plastic vs. the gen 1 pic above. I think it looks cool either way. LOL

For lifespan on bulbs, I'm talking about these figures:

These are rated in average hours before failure.

9005s last 33% as long as 9006s. For standard sylvania, if you dont use them all the time when your headlights are on, they should still last about two years.

guess what?!!! 9005 bulbs were burning up in my foglamp housing( I GUESS GEN 1.5 lighting is lil different), i kept it on for half an hour and u can smell it burning, and i have some condensation from the bulbs in the foglamp. And it melted some of the silcone off the yellow capsule inside and now its rattling lil.
im gonna try to take it out fix again

I guess since the fog lamp is alot smaller it gets real hot. Also the capsule is closer in then on the gen 1.

Gentlemen, I suggest we find a fix for the problem, and not focus on fixing the blame. What do you think??

Chris is going to send his lamp back to me so that I can replace his cracked yellow capsule.

Bottom line 9005s don't work with Gen 1.5s fogs and yellow capsules.

It was weird tho, cuz i could smell bulb burning while i was driving home from work but thought nuttin of it.

No problem. At least the product was good and we could blame the 9005 bulbs for messing it up. lol
