im putting on tein/tokico combo and have heard about 'cutting the bumpstop' is this a normal practice by auto shops? or is it something you guys do extra to get a good drop?

i want to know cause i may have it professionally installed or installed by a side work mechanic guy. If professionally installed, will they know what i mean when i say 'make sure you cut the bumpstop' ? what is the bumpstop anyway, just for my knowledge?

and ya ya ya, i konw if i search i can find out...but what is the length to cut off?

thanks guys

If you don't have it cut I believe that the strut will hit it when the car bounces normally. You have to shave it down to accommodate the drop. My Intrax springs had me shave 1.5 inches off it, if I remember right (it was 3 years ago LOL).
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

It should be connected to the metal shaft. It's the rubber thing that limits downward suspension travel.
