If I had a 6, I wouldnt feed it anything less than 89...especially if its getting on in mileage. The engine was built for 91+, and when the engine gets older, its more prone to knock.

Higher octane is made to prevent knock. It may not matter now, but down the line, if you keep feeding a "Premium only" engine 87 or less, Id expect more engine problems.

$ 20 bucks worth of 93 is enough to get me around for the week especially when a gallon costs $2.29 over here......plus my boy that use to work at a gas station said that 89 or less is mixed with a bunch of crap mixed into it, so I feel safer pumping the 93 in my Solara.

The maunal says "87 octane or higher".
I use 89 and i have a V6, wit 91 i feel like the car is slughish really slow, and the will pick up some grunt in about 4,000 rpm and up.
So i use 89 octane and it runs good.

Always premium. 93 octane. I used to fill up with 94 octane with Sunoco but they no longer sell it.
