Optima Battery question

Optima Battery question

Postby SolaraLance » Thu Dec 02, 2004 7:54 pm

I just got a couple 12" Audiobahns installed and judging by the way it hits I think it's gonna tear up my battery pretty quick. I was thinking on getting a yellow-top optima battery but I saw some things in some posts here about extending wires and what-not, something I don't want to do. Do these things require a lot of extra work? I was hoping it'd be just a drop-in replace to my old battery cause that I can handle. Any info is appreciated as I'd like to get the battery situation taken care of before my old one dies on me. Btw, I have a 2000 SLE V6 if that's any use.
It's mostly the car.

It's always good to replace the wires and terminals when upgrading the battery. You get the most out of the battery with brand new connections. Best to get gold terminals too. Wasn't hard to install mine, I also replaced the wires too. Easier to remove the battery tray because I replaced the wires to the starter too. Never had a problem since putting in the optima. Wish I got the Red top, it would fit my car better color wise.

You can buy the optima orange top - its the red top but the polarity is correct for our car.

The red top is a higher output battery, but yellow top is deep cycle

I have a yellow top and love it

How do you know if you ought upgrade your battery? Does it give you any extra performance or make my subs sound better? I have a pretty high power amp powering 2 12s too running from my battery. So, how would i know if i should upgrade it. Mine's been alright for the past two months, but if theres gunna be a noticable advantage to upgrading or if my battery is gunna get killed by the subs, id want to do it.

Donke,

The optima batteries help more than capacitors. It boosted my overall voltage under a load which in turn raises amp output. Plus it'll stop your lights from dimming

Also look into upgrading the big three.

There is no point to the blue top. Its a yellow top for marine application and it costs more money.

Stick with the yellow if you want deep cycle or red(or orange) for high output

i just ordered the orange top battery.. The neg and pos post on the orange top is the same as OEM. If you go with yellow, Blue or red top you have to modify your battery cables a little bit. But its nothing too hard to do.

But like i mentioned to avoid all of that i went ahead and ordered the orange top battery.

Where can i buy the optima orange top battery? I'm looking for something thats' gonna easily power all my lights and system with no problem, and that is "plug and play," so to speak.

My lights dimming now with just interior neons is annoying enough.

There is an $8 difference in the Yellow D35 and Orange top...why is that? Which is the better purchase for my needs?

Thanks.
