Carbon Fiber Hoods

indiglosolara wrote:If you can afford it. get the fiber images CF hood. They have a better warranty then VIS. Also they use clearcoat on there hood to keep from discoloring and fading. VIS uses gel coating which will discolor over time and Fade if you dont keep it maintianed or have it sitting in the Sun too much.

VIs hood is about $300+Shipping

Fiberimages hood is around $600 plus shipping.
most hoods are gel coated not clear coated

in order to take care of gel coated hood you can not wash your hood for atleast 6 months or it will start to haze , turn yellow and look nasty lol

If you find that you absolutely need to have a carbon hood, yes.

Invader Hood

Postby SpikedMantis » Tue Feb 15, 2005 11:07 pm

Hey guys,

I'm trying to, again, revive the Invader style hood for our car. I contacted the company and this is what they wrote:

Hi Wai,

Members of Solara Guy decided to use another company, to continue with the group buy, so I would ask around and see if they had chosen a company and see if that company ever made them. If you guys are still interested in doing this if the previous group buy never went through I would be glad to help and do this group buy with Solara Guy members.

Just let me know.

Will

I'd still be interested. I definately will need a c/f hood whenever the trunks are done.

I got another letter from Sportivo Concepts:
Hi Wai,

I would also like to mention that it is possible to come up with a different style, if you guys come up with a different design or like the looks of another hood design.

For futher information you can email our sales dept at sales@sportivoconcepts.com.

Thank you

Will

If we get enough interest, we can get a vented carbon fiber hood. Anyone in?

Let's look at different designs possibilities. That'd be cool to get one specifically vented for our Solaras. :P I wonder if JoeB or Rizal had any design ideas, I know they must have been looking at ideas for better cooling?
