drivin to work this morning and everything is working like normal. all the sudden when i try to pass a truck i hear the s/c whinning, engine revs, but car barely accels!!! started drivng it a lil easier but when i came to a stop it was idleing rough. slow to get off the line, engine reved to about 2k before actually moving the car. cel was blinking, never came on, just blinked. any ideas????? checked all vaccum lines and they looked fine.

tranny problems? sounds like it could be the tranny slipping... if its reving fine, then its the tranny... hmmmmmm... tranny burn up?

could be a knock sensor 2... really depends.. get the codes pulled..

how long should a solara tranny last? i would hope longer than 77k miles. i hope its something little like fluid or something.

well how hard do you drive it also have you ever changed the tranny fluids or flushed it?

idk about a solara but a tacoma that was towing all its life,huge loads,and driven fairly hard lost one at i think like465k or 475k

well i drive like a 21year old that just got s/c'd. had my tranny fluid flushed at 60k. bought the car with 55k on it. i actually only drive hard a coupla times a month

it sounds like you're stuck in first gear... a shift solenoid in the transaxle is probably bad...

if you have proof that the car has been serviced at toyota exclusively, they may help you out w/ repairs (partial payment from Toyota) otherwise you're boned...

if your CEL is blinking, something is def wrong.

usually when the light is blinking, that means there is a problem.

took it to my shop and found out that my tranny is stuck in third gear... time for a new tranny. :o luckily i have about 800 miles left on my 24000 mile warranty so its just gunna cost me $50 deductible, $50 diognosis. so $100 for about $3k worth of work, and i get a new tranny :D sense my warranty is almost up the looked for anything else they could replace for free, i get a free water pump too. should pick my car up tommorow at around 4.

Laugh! Most dealers like to do stuff like that anyway because it makes the customer happy and thus ensures they return.. Saving a little from the start can ensure earning alot later on..
