Door Beeping - Ignition Problem

Door Beeping - Ignition Problem

Postby frohboy33 » Thu Feb 24, 2005 9:05 pm

Is it standard for the dinging beeping sound or whatever that annoying sound is to go off when the drivers door is open? If so is there anyway to stop it from doing that. If I wanna have the door open to clean out the vehicle the dang beeping noise drives me crazy. Doesn't matter if I have the key in or not. The only way i found to stop it is to turn the key to ACC or push the tab on the doorjamb in.

If you guys leave your keys in the ignition and open the door does it give you the beep? Another thing is weird is that I can't lock the doors untill I get out of the car and use my key. It automatically unlocks them right away. Is this true for all solara's. Im thinking maybe I get the beep and doors locking all the time because it thinks my key is in the ignition even though its not.

Anybody know of the relay that determines if the key is in the ignition or not? A wiring diagram or something?

Do you have any aftermarket alarm? Cus' what you describe is unheard of? I know the car beeps when the key is in ignition but not when the key is NOT in ignition.

Nope no alarm all stock. Yea it doesn't make any sense. There has to be a sensor or something thats getting stuck I think. But how to fix it is the question now.

Tried that, they want me to bring it in. I don't have warranty so I'm not going to do that.

That post sounds too much like it belongs on certain domestic forums..LOL...toyota's just don't mess up, there has got to be a reson why this is acting up.
Question: after you pull the key there should be a 30 second delay (giving you time to roll your windows, etc) and then the circuit cuts off..are you still having that 30 seconds to do such..or is there indefinate time?

I do get the thirty seconds to roll up the window. The radio does shut off right away though.
