83000 miles?

83000 miles?

Postby G_Unit » Fri Mar 11, 2005 5:39 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2000 v6 SLE now approaching 83000 miles, acutally I think I just hit that today. I have been an everyday driver since I bought the vehicle with 20,000 miles on it. It has the stage 3 kit (body kit, struts, sway bar, tsw revos), except the supercharger. Also its an automatic. I currently have 1 minor bent wheel. And am thinking of getting this one wheel repaired and all the others wheels powder coated and polished for like 450 bucks. I figured its better than buying a new set of wheels. Let me know what you guys and gals think about the powder coating...my car is red with the black leather, I was thinking about just getting them to try to match a bmw hypersilver finish?

Anyways, my ?'s

What is truly necessary to do with the vehicle. (Mainteance)
I have noticed that my suspension has gotten a little soft, but nothing major, there is no noise or bouncing just yet. When will I know I have to replace the struts and springs, as well as should I go back with the TRD set, or go with another co.?

I have always been good with oil changes, never over 6000, i had my coolant flushed at about 45000. I had a deer accident about 2 yrs ago at 58000 miles and they had to replace the radiator and whole front end. I also had my check engine light come on a few months ago and had to replace my o2 sensor, other than that...By the way I do have a injen short ram cold air intake. I did replace my battery last summer and it seems fine now. I just have been getting this weird thing that happens sometimes, especially after these long weekend trips, WHAT HAPPENS IS, I WILL CRANK THE CAR JUST LIKE NORMAL AND IT WILL CRANK AND EITHER THE ENGINE WILL JUST DIE RIGHT DOWN, OR THE REVS WILL BE VERY VERY LOW, AND I HAVE TO JUST BARELY GAS IT, AND THEN ITS FINE...............weird. That is problaby the thing I am most curious about, since I sure as hell dont want to get stranded out in like mid alabama or mississppi. jk. Other than that too... any ideas?

My only other ? I have been thinking about changing the spark plugs and getting a tune up, but the toyota dealer wants an arm and leg. Is it truly necessary? I just drive the car 1600 miles over the weekend and it runs great, except for the freaking minor shake at 60-70. I topped the car out again at around 125-127ish I guess, crap it felt good. My last car, my former baby, a 92 v6xle camry driven to hell and back, i sold with 327,000 miles on it, and still got 3000 grand, awsome vehicle.

For those who had to read this long message sorry, I couldnt just cut str8 to the points, I have learned when posting its best to try to be as detailed as possible. All ideas and feedback are appreciated. Thanks..

P.S.

Also I would like to add some pics of my car, like the small ones underneath my name, or anytime I make a post or what not, can some please give me some instructions on doing this. Thanks

Wow, that camry must of been a gem.
I wouldn't be able to tell you on your maintenance b/c I haven't had to do mine yet....only have 30k miles on my 99.

I say you should just polish the TSW Revos instead of powder coating them.....save yourself some cash.

Yeah the camry was a gem, haha, as with all my things, man i try my best to keep it up to date, and as clean as possible. But yeah I dont know, I guess I can just polish the wheels, but man the freaking shake become worse today, so I am considering possibly putting the wheels on ebay and maybe gettin new wheels, the only thing that sucks is shipping, i could try to even meet someone somewhere near houston or lousiana, but thats about it. But thanks for replying.

I'd say put them up on ebay to get the best possible price you can for them.

Good luck........

When you bounce like tigger and or when you bottom out at uneven roads..thats when its too late. TRD struts are blisten struts, check the search button, i remember someone selling new trd struts. The general consensus here is eibach's.

WHAT HAPPENS IS, I WILL CRANK THE CAR JUST LIKE NORMAL AND IT WILL CRANK AND EITHER THE ENGINE WILL JUST DIE RIGHT DOWN, OR THE REVS WILL BE VERY VERY LOW, AND I HAVE TO JUST BARELY GAS IT, AND THEN ITS FINE...............weird.

All caps is considered shouting; anyhow have your car tuned up'
1. denso platinum's should be suffice for you (since your not s/c)
2. Decent ignition wires (toyota oem are good too)
3. Fuel filter changed
4. EFI service and
5 your throttle body cleaned

I just drive the car 1600 miles over the weekend and it runs great, except for the freaking minor shake at 60-70.

Get your wheels balanced and i'm guessing your shakes are caused by your bent wheel; keep that wheel always in the rear and the shakes will be less.

and WELCOME! :bday:
