Rims on ebay

Will these fit on my 99 solara sle?
im not familiar with what the offset means, is this something i'd have to have a mechanic do or would i be able to do it on my own assuming the wheels are already mounted on tires.

Yeah, that'll fit. If you look in the Tutorials section, there's a thread explaining rim sizes etc.

Offset in a very basic sense, is a measurement of where the center of the rim (the designed part, spokes, or what have you) lines up in relation to the true center of the rim. Its confusing, and I prolly didn't do too good a job explaining it. If you were to look at a rim, not from an angle that you saw the design but so you were looking at the tread itself, it has a middle point. The offset is how far the design is mounted out in either direction from the middle. Its not something you adjust, its part of the rim design.

Typically a +37-+42 will fit the Solara fine. You can buy spacers if necessary to prevent rubbing, but I don't think you'll need them.

plus when if you get those rims off of ebay watch out for the tire sizes cause you don't want very thin side walls like 205/40/17's which is what most ebay wheel shops give you.

I believe they are 255/65 LOW PRO SERIES TIRES Made by GOOD YEAR Tires. I'll have to duoble check and see but thats most likely it.

that was his response to tire size. That doesn't seem like a typical size for a car. Would that work on my solara or am i basically just buying the rims?

Hey, those tires seem pretty thick, i think maybe too thick most people run 225/45/17's. Just double check with the seller. Your just buying the rims but if the tires are new you can sell those and get yourself a right size set.

yeah, thats what i thought, i was lookin that size up online and it was like nissan armada, etc......
so apparently the guy told another person the size was 225/45 R 17, which seems typical. If that is in fact the tire size, would i be able to use those without any modifications or spacers?

Hey, yeah if its 225/45 then buy it but if you think its to over priced look somewhere else. Also you don't need any modificatons done with the 225/45/17 tires and 17x7 with 40 offset. You'll be fine but you might need new lugnuts which are maybe from $20-$50 not sure.
