Call TRD USA

Call TRD USA

Postby drace99 » Wed Mar 16, 2005 4:15 pm

Hey,
Just got off the phone with TRD USA (1-800-688-5912). I asked about performance upgrades...They say they are working on a supercharger, but just having trouble with the increase in the air intake. Anyway, I think if we make a couple of NON-annoying phone calls they may try to figure out the trouble/bug and get us a supercharger more quickly.

I supercharge is so koo... But I think is going to be at least 4000. WE have charce to beat those G35. HAHA :bday: I wish some they can do the mod the engine also. I don't think 3.3 L engine the output is only 225 hp Even the new GS300 with a 3.0 engine has 245 hp output

Note: The RX 330 3MZ has 240ish HP... it CAN be tweeked slightly =P

The 3GR (GS 300) has/is:

1. Direct fuel injection (better performance AND fuel economy, and emissions too...)

2. Dual VVT-i: adds more torque and a pinch of horsepower.

3. ... a completely new engine design. The MZ family has been around for almost 10 years now... and the 3MZ (3.3L) is just a bored out version of the 1MZ (3.0L) w/ a higher compression ratio
-----------
Sidenotes: Honda S2000 puts out 240 HP and I think the engine is 2.0 or 2.2... Toyota Celica 1.8L puts out 180 HP... and there are more out there

The MZ has reached its own peak efficiency... that's why other engine families are born... new technology, different bank angle, etc... until the next set of technology and research is implemented.

Is that for the 2.4, or the 3.3?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

If the 3.3, I am all over that like a cheap suit! I can be very polite on the phone (when they let me use it at the halfway house...) :D

i doubt by calling in and all will speed up their development's process.

A good majority of the people that work at TRD don't even know what they are talking about.

BTW, I forgot to mention...

Scion tC owners have been calling TRD to complain about their supercharger... it will NOT speed up the process. The tC charger was supposed to be released WITH THE CAR (lol) then it keeps being pushed back... the new date is now October this year (most likely NOT)...

The Supercharger (2.4L) is undergoing EPA testing right now. It supposedly creates too much smog... totally LAME if it's a friggin 2.4L that has a ULEV rating... and this thing has been in developement for over 2 years now... =\

Supercharger

Postby drace99 » Fri Mar 18, 2005 2:00 pm

The person I spoke with at TRD did seem to know what he was talking about. He told me the troubles they were having like the air intake. I just think if the demand is high...they might try to get it out quicker!!!

Can't hurt to call 'em

Won't hurt to call, but speeding it up might bring up some quality issues. There goes my college education... I must have this supercharger

No plans for much of anything

Postby mmcdonald » Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:42 am

Okay, I may have gotten one of the boneheads at TRD, but they do not have plans for a supercharger for the 3.3L V6, and they have not even done headers for anything since 2002.

This guy seemed very smug. He said emissions standards prevented them from doing the headers, and I said what about a supercharger, and he said "maybe not." Kind of like, "I think not, duuuuh!"

Anywho, I am going to do the research next time before I buy a car and make sure this stuff is available and on the shelves before I plunk down my cash.
