making own mesh grill

making own mesh grill

Postby hari-bhari » Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:05 pm

hey guys, i started making the mesh grill for my car, and its harder than i thought it would be. im having trouble cutting the mesh, im just using wire cutters for each little link basically. but it takes a long time, and its scratching up the grill cuz of all the sharp edges. plus, its hard to get it to fit exactly without leaving any gaps (im trying to make mine look like flash's). does anyone have tips?

Use sheet metal shears :). That’ll save you a lot of time.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

DONT use wire cutters! I had a bad expereince when I tried...took forever and it did mess up the mesh by bending it actually. Like i said in the PM, I just used scissors....my grille actually did get chipped from the mesh, but as long as i odnt take off the mesh, you dont see it

Hari, how did you get your grille off? I've gotten the top three bolts undone, with a 3/8" socket, but am having trouble getting the bottom out. Any advice?

all you have to do is put a screwdriver in between the little clip things..i think that there are two on each side
flash do you take out the inside of the grill(the little bars) or do you just put the mesh over the whole thing?

if you pry the top outwards some and look in, you will see where the black of the grill clips in to the *insert color of your car here* colored bumper (i guess if u have a black car its harder). so it takes a lot of force, but dont worry you wont break it, just use a flathead and pry outwards and use some muscle
