New Toy in the garage

New Toy in the garage

I am new to the list and Love the Solara. I picked up a 2001 SE V6 5-speed with only 13,000 miles on it. It is silver with the TRD body kit, TRD drop springs and 17" TRD wheel/tire combo. The interior is the gray factory leather, factory spoiler, moonroof, and the JBL 8 speaker sound system. I bought it from a Toyota tech from the Chicago area. It is like brand new and it even still smells new inside. It is very nice to drive and is easier on the kidneys than my Celica!!! LOL. The Celica would kick its butt in a race, but you don't have to be in hurry all of the time.

Ridin in TRD style and saving for some boost. 8)

I really think that I got a deal since the bank was willing to loan $20675.00 (W/O the TRD kit) and I got it for $16,500.00. Did I mention the guy just bought a house and was getting married soon. He needed the money bad and his lose was my gain. It turns heads that is for sure. I also want to get the windows tinted 20% soon. Yes that is illeagal in IN, but I have done this to all my cars and have never been hasseled. I already ordered the 3M clear hood/fender/mirror protection. If it warms up a bit I will tackle the installation after I watch the video that came with it.

Thanks for the comments. Keep those Yotas rollin.

I can't believe that I have to got to work Today. DOH!!! It will be busy that is for sure. We are very close to the mall and everbody will want shuttled to the mall while their vehicle is serviced. I am taking some left overs so I don't get my metal modified by those crazy shoppers.

It's nice to see another set up Solara in the Chicago Land area. I wanted to get the silver too, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the white one that I purchased.

$16,500 for a 2001 TRD with 13k? Damn, you got a smokin deal. In June, I paid $15,600 for a '99 V6 5spd (nothing TRD) with 26k from Carson Toyota. Beleive it or not, that was slightly under blue book.

Oh yeah, I had a Carfax done and it came back clean. I also ran the Vin at work at checked on what warranty work was done. My wife and I tease each other on who will get to drive it. It helps that I leave for work first. LOL. She only has one complaint about the car. Since God built her ass to close the ground (can you say vertically challenged?), the seat belt hits her right in the side of the neck. Her answer is not to wear her seat belt at all. Not a perfect remedy in my book. All in all it was the right car (color, trans, options, bonus TRD kit) at the right price. I almost felt bad taking advantage of the guy. I said Almost!!! I love Toyotas and have worked for Toyota dealerships for the last 14 years. They are great cars and I have had some that I wish were still around. My 1987 Corolla FX16 GTS (5 speed silver) was an ugly duckling....But I loved that little car. I called it my MR2 in a box. It never let me down and it suprised a lot of unsuspecting prey. I know that the Solara isn't as docile looking as the FX16 was, but I still hope to get the dough to have it boosted some day and put the kill on some wanna be Honda weenies. People think my All-Trac Turbo is just a regular Celica until the BOV sounds and they are looking at my taillights getting smaller. Oh What A Feeling!!! and I Love What You Do For Me.....LOL. 8) I have rambled long enough...Sorry!!!

you know..i have that same problem so i don't wear it..i used to wear it all the time (i have this car crash phobia)..but when i got my car i wore it when i picked it up from the dealer, but less than half way home i ditch the seat belt on the hgwy cause it was bothering me so much. sometimes i think it does more harm than good cause i can't turn as much so i can't really see what's coming when i take turns. i was thinking bout making a poll about this yesterday..speak of the devil.
