Seatbelt in Solara

do you wear your seatbelt in your solara?? in the topic "new toy in the garage" toyota_todd was mentioning that his wife is short and doesn't wear the seatbelt cause it cuts into her neck. i'm 5'3 and i find the seatbelt very uncomfortable and restricting.

massachusetts just past a new law that's effective dec 2nd. they adverstise it as "click it, or ticket"

before the law was that if they could only give you a $25 ticket for not wearing your seatbelt if they were pulling you over for something else (secondary offense?? something like that)...starting the 2nd tho they can pull you over just b/c they see you w/out a seatbelt.

needless to say, there are gonna be a lotta people getting tickets, myself included!!

i used to always wear my seatbelt, but the solara really does restrict me too much. i tried adjusting the seatbelt where it attaches to the frame and where you click the seatbelt, but it doesn't seem to help. when i'm inching out into an intersection to take a turn i'm too restricted so i can't see. i was leaving my dad's house one night and he forced me to put it on..lol..i told him that i was gonna get into an accident cause i can't see when i do it, but he said i was full of it. lol..too funny, i was pulling outta his street taking a blind right hand turn and almost got hit cause i was too restricted by the seatbelt. told him so! (good thing for good pickup to get the hell outta the way!)

i know that you're suppose to be wear your seat belt..i always did till i got the solara.

i used to wear it once in a while when i owned my old corolla (the Corodda, Eleneor). but now with the solara, its sooooo much more comfortable. i don't mind puttin' it on.

as for that click it or ticket program, we had that for a while in hawaii already. most cops are pretty lenient about it, so i wouldn't worry too much missay. i'm sure cops are just as reluctant about the law too.

lol..don't get me started on that "that's what the air bag is for thing!" haha...they call is SRS for a reason SUPPLEMENTARY restraint system..as in it only works w/ the seatbelt don't ask..damn physics class debate on airbags..i had the pro side, and i don't like airbags, so i learned a lot

anyways..is there any way to disable that light! omg..i let on of my friends drive my car w/ me in it and he kept on getting distracted and said that the light was pissing him off. lol..it annoys the hell outta people. i'm used to it by now, but is there some wire or something to disable it? the driver one isn't too bad, it's usually blocked by the steering wheel anyways.

i looked under there one day and it looks like you can just unplug it, dont know if it might set off a check sensor though, i actually want to take it out and use it in the driver's seat, so only if the alarm is going off and that's activated,it could set off storbes and a mini pain generator siren.

i almost find it insulting that toyota felt the need to give us the light..lol..like i dont' know that i'm not wearing mine, or like i can't see that the person next to me isn't wearing one? really...now, if they did it for the back seat, that makes more sense..so if you have kids or something you can see when they're wearing it or not.

they probably did it in hopes that they'll annoy people enough to put it on

You could just unplug or remove that blinking seatbeat light, i did that a few months ago when i removed that panel to install a radio. There is no effect to the clock or anything else.

I respect you Gunman, but I dont think it is wise to convince people not to wear their seatbelt. Dont do that. You may have survived but many people may not be as lucky as you.
