Problem with whiteline sway bars

Problem with whiteline sway bars

Postby gnaw_divad » Fri Mar 25, 2005 6:24 pm

Alright guys... i have a problem..

I purchased and installed the whiteline front and rear sway bars close to a year ago. Recently i've been hearing loud CLUCKING noises in the front left tire espeiclally when i turn left, so i went in for a diagnostics.

They just called me today and told me that the brackets on BOTH sides (left and right) are broken. And they have no idea how to fix it cause they say if i get a new bracket it might break just the same.

Has anybody had this problem with the whiteline sway bars?? I had them professionally installed at TECH 3 motors in San Jose, do you guys think it could have been an install problem or a manufacturing problem. Or if whiteline will send me new brackets ??

ANY RESOLUTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED, THANK YOU

-David

Brackets

I would just replace the brackets. I have seen this happen before, replacement brackets usually don't break.

When I first got my Whiteline FSB I used th OEM brackets. I really didn't like the way they felt, or looked so I contacted WL for replacement a solution. Then sold me the oversized heavy duty straps. The ride and handling is much better. Give it a shot..

im in the same boat... I usually beat up my car at the track as well as some auto-x events and almost every time the nuts/bar brackets always get loose. Paladin, whats the difference between the OEM and whiteline versions?

I contacted Whiteline and this was their reply...

Thank you for supporting Whiteline sway bars.

The sway bar to suit your vehicle is sold with only the 'D'-bushes (sway
bar to chassis mounting bushes), as we do not have a record of sway bar
end links that would be required to suit your vehicle.
We believe that the Original equipment links would be easier to come by
and cheaper for you to purchase in the US.
If you have trouble locating some links to suit your vehicle, feel free
to contact me again, but I will require a complete set of dimensions of
your existing links and we will try and match something up for you.

Paladin06Greg- Did you say you got a set from whiteline?? If so, did you have to special order them..

Also, are the "brackets" the same as the bushings for those people who have said they have broken brackets?? The autoshop told me that i needed to replace both the brackets and the bushings??? but from what the guy wrote me it sounds like there is no brackets, ONLY BUSHINGS???

WIZ2 - did you replace the brackets or the bushings??

THANKS A LOT,

-David

Initially I used the OEM bracket and bushings but after awhile I decided I did not like the way they fit. They did not mount flush at the mounting point. IMO

I contacted WL via e-mail and got almost the same response you got. That's when I called them and got what I needed. I got two sets of bushings. One was the same outside diameter as the OEM bushings, and I also got a heavy duty bracket and bushing set and those are the ones on my car. I'll see if I can locate the paperwork and get back with you.

I'm sorry I can not find the receipt for the replacement straps and bushings. Perhaps if you ask them to check their records for the sale to Gregory Anderson at 6 Cross Creek Ln, Seymour CT. in 2003/04 they can use the numbers from my file.

I don't live in CT anymore.

Good luck.

That goes for me also becuase I need new sway bar links since the front sway is so daym think compared to the stock one.....

Keep us informed on this and let us know wussup.

Just an idea but if they can find Paladin06Greg's paperwork maybe we can go in together on the parts that we need and perhaps save some cash......
