mine gets a good bit worse when there is weight in the car, aka people in the back or a full tank of gas.

God its driving me oh so crazy, I cannot figure it out. I have gone a week with no knocking, then today I hit some bumps and it started a little bit and then low and behold someone gets in the back and the noise starts knocking even louder only in the back passenger side, man this is starting to suck. well letme know if anyone finds any thing.

P.s What is the torqe setting for the strut mount bolts, thanks

i had the same problem after i installed my tokico/tein combo. it turned out that i forgot to put in the spacer that goes between the mount and the top bolt. the Tokicos don't come with the spacer, just the bolt, so you have to take it off your stock struts. that had me scratching my head for 10 hours or so until i got curious and took the stocks apart. i had some rattle in the front too, but that was just because the nuts weren't tightened enough.

i cut the bump stops and its gotten better...what does the spacer look like? i didnt see a spacer off the stock struts...where can i get one and for CHEAP?!

The spacer is the little metal peice that fits around the strut and the bolt rests down on it, it looks like a thick ass washer. As for the bump stops I cut mine in half as requires but I still to this day doent understand wtf it does, it just goes around the strut and floats there and does nothing so it seems anyway.

thanx for elaborating on the spacer. i should have been more descriptive. ...as far as the bump stop's purpose, i believe it restricts the travel of the piston on the shock. it sits on the piston between the mount and the strut cylinder and stops you from bottoming out when the shocks take a serious hit. you have to cut it when you lower your car in order to increase the piston's travel distance to compensate for shorter piston length. in other words, if you keep it stock, you will constantly hit it when you run over large bumps making it seem like you're bottoming out.

i hope i got it right. someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

You guys are really starting to scare me. Im going to be installing the tein/tokico combo this spring. Let me ask this... IS there anybody out there that has a tein/tokico combo that doenst make noise at all?

Also let me know if that spacer from the stock strut solves the problem.

Does tein and tokico have good detail instrutions for installation? Cause I would have no clue how much of the bump stop you would have to cut off.

The noise is only in the back passenger side, its just like a little clucnk, and I have to hit a descent jolt to make it happen, or if I have people in the back thats when it really starts pissing me off, cause it doesnt take much to make it knock then. And by the way Solorange, I am in athens Ohio which is about 2 1/2 hrs from you, so when you go to do your suspension, just come on down, I have a lift in my garage, we could knock it out in half a day, well , keep up the trouble shooting, I am going to dissasemble again here soon, so I will check over it aggain yet a 4rth time, I have a brand new mount, I am about to take it back and get new one and see if maybe its deffective, ummm just maybe., I still want someone to explain this bushing Im suppose to grease, I only know of the spacer and the bumpstop. later

Thats great! I may take you up on that! Do you have a lift at your home or do you have access to a shop? And do you have air tools? I have a garage and all the necessary tools, but a lift would be nice considering I dont want to place my jack stands on those thin rails underneith our cars. They dont seem like they support much. And on top of that I dont have a second person with exeperience with free time willing to help me. I should be ordering my springs next week. I havent figured out were im gonna get my tokicos yet.

Wow..i didn't know alot of people had the same problem w/ the passenger side rear strut. I've got the eibach/tokico set up and the noise is irritating, especially driving in Chicago sh*ty streets. I couldn't find anything wrong when I took it apart. The noise started happening after I accidentally curbed my rims. Oh well..just gotta live with it i guess.

I have the tokico/tein set up and have no problems at all.. did you guys install these yourselves, or did you have it professionally done? I took mine to a shop and have never had a problem. I recommend if you can, pay a few bucks and have someone look at it, and if you had it installed, take it back and get a refund!
