Front Sway Bar Links......Need Help

Front Sway Bar Links......Need Help

Postby 1st Gen Sol » Wed Mar 30, 2005 11:01 am

I just got my sways bars installed this afternoon and the outcome was great. I went with the TRD rear sway bar on my 99 Solara and it bolted right up at the shop.

I installed the Whiteline front sway bar which was a lot harder then the rear but eventually I got it.

My question is....the front sway bar links are kind of short in the matters of the threads to bolt it onto the shock. I was told to get aftermarket sway links with longer threads but I can't seem to find a place that has them. The bolts are on the sway but I just don't feel that safe driving it knowing that the bolts aren't supported too great.

Does anybody know where I can get sway links for a 99 Solara from or a place that gets whiteline products that I can contact ? ? ? ? (A link to a website or phone number would be great)

Also I wanted to know if it is safe driving the car like this for the time being ?

Thanks guys....

I noticed the same thing... I actually had to replace the nuts due to the fact that after 4 months of use w\ the whiteline front sway bar, the nuts were gone and I was essentially driving without a front sway bar

Well this is what I got as a response from Whiteline in Australia.....What do you guys think I should do ? ? ? Convert back to stock ? ? :(

We can make up a link kit to suit your vehicle # LD220.
The retail cost of this item would be $87.30 (Australian).
Freight to the US will cost approximately $55.00 (Australian).

No, the part that connects the sway bar on the end to the sway link which in turn is connected to the shock. Send me a private messege and I will send you a picture of the sway link so you have a better understanding of what I am talking about.

The part you talk about is called Swaybar Endlinks.

Yes the threads are a bit short, but you can just get some mild thread locker and torque them to spec. As long as you have the right tools (5mm hex key and a wrench), you won't strip the thing.

This is the return email I got from Whiteline. They sent me the link and part number for the sway links. If you guys wanna check it out....I dunno if its for a pair or just one......anybody have an idea ?

If you do wish to purchase the items, you can do it through our secured web store located at www.whiteline.com.au/store
This will allow you to pay by credit card in a secured situation with no risk of any one else getting hold of your credit card details.
If you do wish to order it through this method, order the part # KLD55B, and under the special instruction section put in ATTN: Wayne & Corey, and request this kit to suit 220mm long links. We will be able to work it out from there.

Your other alternative is to try and grind the flat mounting face of the sway bar to allow the link to be securely tightened (use of an alternate nut may be required). This method is not a recommended method but it may get you out of trouble and save you some money.
