car leans to the left after tokico/tein upgrade

Postby ironi » Wed Apr 06, 2005 8:20 am

i just had my suspension upgraded to Tokico/Tein a couple of days ago. I noticed that for some reason the car is about a half inch lower on the left (driver) side than on the right. I am guessing this may be because the springs haven't settled fully yet and since there is more weight on the driver side (i normally drive alone), that side is settling faster.

any ideas?

Suspension

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Apr 06, 2005 9:49 am

The suspension will settle to its final position the first time you roll the car. It doesn't take a while of driving. It shouldn't sit lower on one side because you have always driven alone since these springs and struts are new unless some other part of the suspension is bent or broken or you are really heavy. There is a certain allowance for a variation in height, though it is usually fairly small. You have to measure control arm angle and heights not just at the fender but various areas of the suspension to know where the problem is.

Did your mechanic install both front springs on one side and both rear springs on the other ? ? ? ? I don't think that would be possible but then again it might....... :-?

Is it possible that the arrow on the strut mount is pointing the wrong way? The rear can be put in only one way but the front is directional. I doubt it's that though.
