my trunk is locked and i lost my original key. the spare key wont open it. is there anything i can do to get it open. i have a 99 solara

The valey key you are using won't give you access to the glovebox too!
Go to the dealership and give them your VIN, then ask for a new master key, should be easy 20-25 bucks. Question: i know we have a feature to keep our trunks in 'lock' position (but why did you do such??). Only time i do such is when were clubbing and have purses in trunk!

LOL, hes got it in "lock" position, meaning he inserted his key in the rear trunk lock, and turned it counter clockwise and took his key (when it reached horizontal position), which cuts off the remote thingie by the gas lid (or the glovebox popper depending on gen). master key is the only way to unlock it now!

would you be able to unlock it by crawling in the entrance when your rear seats are folded down

Yeah, if you crawl through there should be an emergency release cord to open the trunk. I think you'll have to replace that key, unless you want to do that every time.

is the release cord near the back of the trunk. my box wont allow me to reach the front near the lock
