Because this is posted in the Gen-2 section, I think you'll miss many Gen-1 guys. For any Gen-2 guys that are sitting on the fence on this one, I'd encourage you to strongly consider this. Especially on a platform where there aren't a lot of good quality performance mods. They've shown proven gains from many people, great testimonials.

This isn't simply an intake either. They use large diameter piping (usually 3.5" or 3") and are able to get the MAF to work cooperatively with it. This is made as a very easy to install add-on. For those that are really into modding and want a more flexible system, it's that too. They have a tuning capability that is optional with one of the largest maps I've heard of. That means if other vendors wake up and start delivering better mods for our cars, you will have the ability to tune it for best performance with other mods.

If you want testimonials, go read in the Mazda forums. All you see there is happy people with their new CP-E intakes. These guys are serious engineers and chemists, not marketing people looking for a way to take money. I'd be all over this but they want to work with stock vehicles for marketing purposes. Doing something on my car won't help the average Gen-1 Solara owner. Plus they would be comparing to an Injen with cold air extension than the stock air box. -JoeB

Actually, you don't have to be in that area. Heard they would pay roundtrip airfare. So you'd have to drive there and back after four weeks of them working on it. Only problem you'd face is you'd have to have another car in the meantime. Unfortunately, I only have this car.

EIght hour drive is nothing compared to a few days of driving (for someone here from socal...) good lord Michael.... you have 3 freaking cars... and being that all of these other guys just talk the talk... and you are the only one that actually does shiiiit... just give them a hand and get this done so we can all live in a peaceful society...

^^^LMAO...You kill me again Milton...^^^Some times you have to re-evaluate the situation and see what is best for your family.

Besides, give it time. Just remember, I was willing to transport my car to Injen for them to R&D the intake, but Paul Ho understood how much hassle and inconvienence that would be for me. Irreguardless if I have multiple cars or not. That's the reason why I'm very appreciative to Larry and June for STEPPIN' UP to the plate. We all know the intake hasn't came out, but it's a first step in the right directions.

After June was able to get the Injen SRI prototype, many came to me askin' why I didn't come to them with this project and they all wanted to be the first. Now is the chance!

^^^Like JoeB said^^^ Here's is another opportunity for some one to be the first and help innovate for the Gen 2 Solaras.

I've got a back up vehicle that's drivable (though not comfortable... Chevy Suburban '89). I also have friends out there that I've needed to visit for 10 yrs. I'd have to:

-check out the warrenty implications
-verify that they're paying airfare
-check thir timetable with my sched

But since I have pure stock, they would have a good look at the improvement. No possible interactions with other mods. Can't promise but I'll check it out.

So Michael... You'd be on this if you could?

The warranty implications are important. I have the 7 yr extended warranty so even more concern.

Good day for my Solara! I was just promised a new muffler and tip for free and now I'm signing up for the CP-e MAFci proto. It's a lock! I'm just down to setting dates. They still would like a second tester to test the first production run should the proto yield results, so if you're local to MD/VA (or like roadtrips), and have a V6, you should tag them. They expressed the desire to see it on a stick. SE has a stick V6, right?

So sometime in late May I should be able to post some neat facts & figures.
Dyno results of a pure stock SLE (I'd love to know how many of those horses hit the pavement)
Dyno results of the CP-e creation
    Pics (of course)
If I swing by KY on the way back we might even have video of a head to head comparison with Michael or one of his peops.

If anyone wants to pre-drool for a couple months, check out the mazda forums they reference. That really sold me. I hope we get as much of a boost.
And if you don't think I'm making a sacrifice for the team... I'll be driving this thing for a month!

Unfortunately, no stick for the gen 2. Only the gen 1 has a V6 stick.
Glad to see you're down to do the proto! :D

I'm so sorry about your backup ride. But it will be worth it! Hopefully your commute is short. Otherwise you may be spending a lot of time and money at the pumps.

Dang - this is tempting.

This evening I was driving home when a 2004 Altima SE 3.5L wanted to race. We took off neck and neck and ended in a dead even tie. You'd thought we had the cars strapped together. Neither of us could pull ahead.
I'm not sure if this was a good race or a disgrace. But it left me wanting to do anything I can to squeeze out aditional HP. I don't want to repeat this incident.

Maybe I should ask Down2TheC if I can race him in his Suburban just so I can feel better.

This "proto" mod may need to be the next step.I've done the Intake Door bypass with great results; TRD Muffler and TRD Filter.

Come on aftermarket, I'm dying here!

I feel the need for speed!!!

An Altima SE 3.5L is a worthy competitor and pretty damn fast. You did good keeping it to a tie.
