Just to let you guys know i recently went to the track and did a 14.68
14.79 and a 15.78... and my right tire was bald so bald that parts of the tire the thread was showing.....

put lucas oil, a whole quart
octane booster, outlaw power shot
no spare tire,
nittos 555 in the fronts on 18's
heater not on....

I traped at 97.15 mph

what am i doing WRONG?

take out everything in ur trunk. i mean spare, jack, tool kit, wheel hub. then take out ur rear seats. and run 16s w/ about 7 or 8 inch wide tire. besides tht get nitrous haha

with all the money you can spend to get the solara to be a 13sec car. my friend was able to get his caprice to do 12.0. man i wish our engines where better

i figure rear seats weight about 2lbs the jack about an 1lb.... i menus well take off my clothes and go to the track butt naked.... figured my clothes weight about 3lbs.....

Ahaha the spare tires alone is like 40 to 60 lbs and all the back seats together is like 20 lbs. Passenger seats os like 30 something lbs and carpet and all that stuff in the trunk is another good 10 to 20 lbs...thats allot of lbs you could shave..like .14 secnods

Those are good times for 18's w/poor tires. Get all the weight off the rear end that you can and have less than 1/4 tank gas, it will reduce squatting at launch and keep the front wheels in contact with the road.

Stock y-pipe is your engine breathing bottleneck, probably loose a few tenths with that alone.

i'm not sure if i have a y - pipe.... like right before it hits the cat its really big but from the headers it doesn't look as big as its before the cat...

What kind of clutch do you have? I suggest getting a stage 2 or something that grabs real hard. I ran a 9.9 in the 8th in my stock 5 spd solara and i cant see how you are only running 9.6.
