Chrome Chipping

Chrome Chipping

Postby grsd03 » Wed Apr 13, 2005 2:31 am

Hey,

My chrome on the grill is flaking off, has anyone found a way to repaint it back to chrome?? If so what paint and procedure did u use? I've done a search and i've seen posts on how they painted it to flat black or some other color but didn't see an answer to painting it back to chrome.

Thanks

Theres no way you can spray chrome on right. Any lump or unevenness is going to very obviously show.

Where you located? I have a second grill that has perfect chrome, but I plan to spray it black anyways.

PM me if your interested.

So true. I wish there was a good way to black out the chrome trim around the windows also.

That should work, if not just sand it off. That what I did when I painted mine.

Why did you paint it rather then do the mesh? Dont get me wrong, I like the painted grille, its unique but what made you decide on painting the whole grille ?

If it is flaking off, cant you just use a power washer to take the rest off and then you dont have to paint it black?

I have a silver solara so thats why I don't want to black it out because I don't think it'll look right if I have a big black grill when the rest of my car is silver and chrome.

Dipping the grill is way to expensive.

I was also wondering about the chrome spray paint, I've seen them for as low as 5 bucks cdn. I just don't want it to look like crap.
