[quote=Thats great! I may take you up on that! Do you have a lift at your home or do you have access to a shop? And do you have air tools? I have a garage and all the necessary tools, but a lift would be nice considering I dont want to place my jack stands on those thin rails underneith our cars. They dont seem like they support much. And on top of that I dont have a second person with exeperience with free time willing to help me. I should be ordering my springs next week. I havent figured out were im gonna get my tokicos yet.[/quote]

I have a lift in my garage/building, and yeas I have an industrial ari compressor and every air tool ever made I think lol, just let me know,

So hows it coming guys anyone figured this out yet, I still got nothin.

Well Im about fed the hell up. I cant find this damn clunking noise back there. Its worse now since I got an alignment, they aired my tires up, apparently they where low, now that that back passenger tire is harder I am getting a clunk every time I hit a jolt in the road, My mounts are 3 months old but Im starting to wonder if its them, or somthing stupid, And if thats not enough when I went to get an alignment at firestone they said that they couldnt get my front drivers side toe angle perfect, somthing they say could be caused by frame bend or car fatigue or a bent strut, which all has to be bull crap, I hope, unless one of my tokicos came bent from the factory, whata ya think, dont our tokics have life times on em, I dunno, Im getting burnt out. Thanks guys later..

I know some of us like to work on our own cars. Have you thought of taking it into a reputable suspension shop? They should have it fixed in no time and it should not cost that much to fix.

Kicking this up to ask if anyone has come up with a definitive solution. I recently developed that wonderful clunk over large bumps. First course of action would be to check the strut mounting nut torque (29ft-lbs according to haynes manual).

Anyone successful?

P.S. the only suspension mods I have are tein springs and tokico struts (no rsb, fsb, etc)

What ended up working for me was re-checking for any loose bolts. Ended up finding that my rear passenger endlink was loose(the gold color bar conected to the rear sway bar) Tightened that it up, no more issues.

Tightened every bolt imaginable including endlinks but clunk in the trunk is still there. Nothing is loose in the trunk either, its definately mechanical and coming from the rear undercarriage. I dont think any one strut is to blame.

As a side note, I found out the idiots who installed my suspension didnt cut the bumpstops. The front end was riding on the bumpers so in essence there was no front suspension, causing a punishing bottoming-out feeling from the front end over every little bump. Cut two rings off them and she rides 2358907x smoother.

But the clunk endures.

EDIT:

Stroke of genius.
The CLUNK IS GONE. Noise was caused by the muffler (APEXi WS cat-back) bouncing up and hitting the frame rail. I have it ghetto rigged right now using a ring of old bumpstop as insulator until I find a permanent solution. Just goes to show that sometimes the simplest solutions are the ones that work.
