Sunroof Problem

Postby Jetfixer » Wed Apr 20, 2005 1:30 pm

Anyone else having this problem? If I tilt my sunroof up and then close it, the weatherstrip along the rear edge rolls up and jams the glass panel preventing it from retracting all the way in, which prevents it from being able to slide rearward. I've tried to adjust it per the shop manual but can't seem to get it right. I guess the weatherstrip has stretched and needs to be replaced. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem becuase my car was painted and some how was out of adjustment when the car was returned to me. If I was you I would look into taking the car in to toyota because you can not replace the rubber on the sunroof glass you have to replace the sunroof glass itself which is rather expensive $600 :drinking: .

I may have found the answer. I found a bunch of last years dead cicada parts crushed into the grease on the sunroof tracks. There was enough packed into the end channels to prevent the whole sliding assembly from going all the way forward!! At least it's working ok now.
