door ding remedy

Postby celica GT4 » Tue Dec 03, 2002 8:48 pm

I see that you all have been victemized by idiots carelessly parking next to your baby. :( BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!!! I work at a dealership and have seen these dings removed for hundreds to thousands $$$ less than a body shop would charge for paint/body work. I am sure if you live in a city of any size at all, your dealership should know about a process called paintless dent removal. There are probably about half a dozen different dent removal companies in my town. My wifes 93 Camry has been worked on 3 times and looks great. These guys even do hail damaged cars!!! They are specially trained and have custom tools. They usually try to access the damaged area through a plug but sometimes have to drill a small hole in the door jam area. In my area the cost per car is around $100.00-$250.00 depending how many dents are in how many panals. I hope this helps because if your as anal as I am about your cars looks, those door dings are probably killing you. Sorry this is so long but I had to give you guys/gals the scoop. Toyota Todd

Our Lexi ES got keyed VERY badly last year. the marks were from Front bumper all the way thru BACK bumper...(yeah through the doors, fender...everything)..it just wansn't one line, but a few lines (yes on purposed by some SOB)......it was racially motivated after 9/11 (as some bizzar stickers were stuck on the car...don't want to get into details). We did report it to our insurance, but you do have to meet your deductible, and I can tell you that factory paint is factory paint...for all those thinking keying themselves to get the insurance to fix it...there are cheaper options than that...just go to the body shop, and explore!

ever seen those inflatable things people hang on their doors when they park? just an idea. Toyota should work out something with Saturn and their dent resistant door panels. Best idea since wrinkle free pants.

maybe its just me but whenever i get out of my car i always make sure to open it slowly and put my hand over the part of the door where it could possibly hit their car, id rather them have a little smudge mark from my finger than a dent or scratch....just like to be nice i guess.....dont want it done to my car so i dont do it to other peoples

I seen this Ding fixer on TV last night for $19.99. It looks like it works. Has anyone in here tried it yet?

u know..i hate my sister's 02 sl2, but that's the one part of the car i luv! the saturn dealer.. (i think this was the friendliest, most helpful dealer i've ever seen! not only are they nice, but they continue to please their buyers..every year they give u an bday party for yur car..lol)..had this sl2 that they took apart to show safety features....so they actually let you jump on the car, hit it with a hammer, anything u wanted to do w/ it.

i think i had too much fun..u had me, this scawny 100lb 5'3 thing jumping up and down on the door, taking my heels off smashing the door..and nothing! not even a dent! i have to admit that i was impressed.

The doors dont dent even with a hammer?!?!?! Thats amazing. I wish i had that. BTW see how the taillights or headlights do when you hit them with a hammer

saturns have dent resistant panels because theyre basically plastic
definitely not as safe in a collision, and absolutely terrible if the car caught fire
