Would anyone truely recommend the JP headers for the 99-02 Solara? Are they really worth the $1,200? And do they only give 30 whp?

I'm not sure what you want to hear. Manufacturers publish dyno results for products because people want them. The truth is, the gain will depend on what other mods you have done with the engine. Are they worth $1,200? That is a personal preference. For a long time, they were the only headers available for the 1MZ-FE so for anyone that wanted headers and had the money, it was an easy answer. Now there are a couple to choose from. I have the JP Performance headers, all I can say is they are very nice, high quality headers. Does that help? -JoeB

Xerd headers are available for $800 I think. Before everyone starts flaming about Xerd, I'd like to state I think they were chased away more than anything. When Eyal came back on the forum and asked for people who had been cheated out of money to step up and post about it, nobody stepped up. Gabe got a set of the Xerd headers and said they look great! I really hope this doesn't turn into another flame fest against Xerd. I don't like to see any vendors getting trashed on the forum. We have so much problem getting anyone to make anything for our car as it is... -JoeB

Actually I've been in contact with Eyal via email since his post. He's promised to make things right with my refund. Believe me I'll be the first to notify the board if he comes through, I get no enjoyment from trashing anyone but I don't like losing $450 worth of hard earned cash either. The ball's in his court now.

I have the JP Performance headers, and they're very nice. As JoeB says, the gains that you get out of them depend on what other mods you have.

besides the supercharger, what would be the next best mods to go inline with the headers?

supercharger

headers

rest of the exhaust system

port and polish exhaust ports (not intake!!)

upgrade injectors/fuel pump

run higher boost

change to forged low compression internals (I think they have a 9:1 set... some peopl ehave 8:1. which I believe is TOO LOW for s/c... great for T/C though)

That's probably it...
