I recently re-did my HVAC controls with transparent red plastic pieces custom cut to fit the indicators. Basically I did it to make the cold/hot knob look blue/red again instead of purple/red. I will get a picture up later today to explain better.
remove the hvac controls (if you dont know how to do this lemme know) and you can easily take out the three cartridges that hold the a/c, recirc, and defogger buttons from the back and remove their corresponding wire harnesses.
rear defogger is the easiest, there are two bulbs, one for the light up symbol and one for the "on" indicator light. unscrew these bulbs from their sockets on the of the cartridge, remove the rubber colored covers, and paint the bulbs.
a/c is next. the a/c icon is the same as above but the indicator light is a l.e.d. which is VERY hard to color so I suggest you just leave it green. I tried coloring it red but the nail polish blocks out too much light, sharpie looks like poo, even the color blue dosent work at all.
recirc is basically impossible to change since it is all l.e.d. based so i just blacked it out.
