Problem getting rear calipers off

Postby WunLoudSolara » Wed Apr 27, 2005 9:53 am

I searched and searched for this but there is tooooo many results unrealated to changing the rear brakes. If anyone has done it themselves gimme some tips or something, I've changed my fronts before but the rear bolts don't wanna come off and on one of the bolts a ratchet has no clearance to get to it cuz of the strut mount.

You have to get a long socket thing whicih is about 12mm-14mm, and use an extension and a long wrench.
Then you will be able to get it loose.
Hope this helps.

Breaker bar w/ an extension should be able to get in there. I did a rear brake job on a Celica GT w/ disc last month, pretty tight clearances there too.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Yea ima try that, only thing is all the sockets I have are those 16 sided ones that make it easier to put on but strip the F*** outta heavy torqued bolts, so i have to go and get a 6 sided one. I would use an impact wrench but I don't know any one with a compressor.

Yeah. Get a good set of 6 sided sockets before you really start cranking on it. A basic set of Craftsman (or equal) isn't too expensive when compared to the years of good service you'll get out of them :).
