Q: Do our cars depreciate badly?
Really, I think Solara does real well in depreciation compared to other Toyotas and other vehicles. One Toyota that has excellent resale is the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Supra (not the old ones).

Although I noticed that the mileage didn't seem to make much diffrence for blue book. It sure means a lot to me though. When I bought mine there was a 99 6 cyl with a stick for the same price as mine, but it had almost 60k mi, and mine had under 15, and was toyota certified so I could get the extended warranty.

1. Take it out of the dealership
2. When it passes its Mfg's warranty
3. When it passes 100K miles.
If you are reaching close to 36K within the first year (or close to it) then your exp'ing 1&2 depreciation.
With that said....I'm selling my 13 year old celica with 150K miles for $5500....(actually toyota tech wanted to buy it over the phone for 4100, but i wanted more..greedy). So you see toyota's do hold UP in value over their lifespan!
