Brakes with 100K+ miles

Postby SunGod916 » Fri Feb 25, 2005 10:44 pm

To add to the thread, I purchased my car in Jan 2002, have put about 65,000 miles on it, and I have never changed the pads.
I had them checked and they were at 40%.

Brake Pad

Postby PTSOLARA » Wed May 04, 2005 1:21 am

I finally replaced my front brake pads at 123K miles. The rear pads still have 50% to go. I have a 1999 Solara and had it brand new since 1998. I have never seen or heard other cars' brakes pads hat can last more than 100k.

One of the local mechanics didn't believe it until he took out my wheels and look.

Which manufacturers are considered some of the best for aftermarket rotors? I'd like to keep the same stock size.

I replaced the stock rotors with Brembo replacements (rather than stock due mainly to cost). The pads i'm currently using for the fronts are the Hawk HPS pads. and the rears are occupied by the ceramic Akebono ProACTs. THey bite pretty good and the positive thing about them is that they leave very little brake dust behind verse stock pads.
