I searched and saw the lighting guide but I didnt see if anyone has tried those matrix 194's for the guage cluster? Has anyone tried em? Do they fit?

they do but the guages wont be completely lit

even with the matrix ones. The matrix ones have one oval opaque in the middle and 4 other led's facing the sides so its 270 degrees of light supposedly

wide angle, matrix, beam - all LED's will give you bright/dark spots on your gauges. stick with colored incandescent 194's.

Xavier, Got your PM. I think what Bassthrive says is true, but your welcome to try.

The matrix LED still has hotspots, because its still focused on 5 spots, even though it illuminates alot better. Its no where as drastic as as the other LEDs, but its still there. I think it would be especially noticable in the dash, since theres a small area between the LED and the surfaces they illuminate (i.e. a matrix LED for the trunk wouldnt be so bad since the focused light diffuses over a distance)

Im pretty sure they will fit, since theres still good vertical clearance, but for red, the regular red bulbs are just as good as the LEDs for color, so I would stick with those, and not worry about hotspots or spending more on Matrix LEDs.

ok guys....I think thats what I will do then...I'll go with the red 194's incandescents. I'm repainting mine until I get some
