19" Rims Keep Bending

19" Rims Keep Bending

Postby Toya-Solara » Fri May 06, 2005 10:26 am

ok here's the deal 10 days agos i put this sweet 19" TSW Mondello Rims on my car wrapped in 235/35/r19 toyo proxes 4. everythign for $1600

on the third day having it i hit a avg sized pothole and bent the front driver side, the very next day hit another pothole and bent the front passenger side rim, the day after that i bent the driver side once again so now i'm forced to take the damn things off and put my two front stock 16" on.

i fixed the 2 front TSW's ($200 & now i have an ugly patch/weld on the rim) so yesterday the 9th day i'm crusing around a corner and whaaaam! another freaking pothole so the rim i just fixed needs to be fixed again and now i think it's gonna cost me about $100 to fix.

What the heck should i do i'm furious???????
and any suggestions on future rims are welcomed.

haha... learn how to drive and avoid holes.

rule1- never get rims that you can not handle
rule2- its bound to happen anyway
rule3- 19's in NY is a joke.

all of the above. i only bent my wheels twice in 7 months.. either that or get some more tire up on them

my 18s are getting new 225/40/18s instead of the 215/35/18s on them now.

If your driving in New York around the City area, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx etc. , your definately gonna hit potholes and such. I would say get thicker tires........but with a set of 19's i'm sure that wasn't too much of an option.

Best thing to do IMO is to sell the set you have now or just use them for the summer (meets and stuff) and get urself a set of 18's or 17's with thicker tires.

I've had my share of bent rims here on the island as you have had your luck with your rims. Sorry to hear about it, specially since you just got them.

your tires are definitely too small... try to get at least 40's but i suggest 45s.

That frickin sucks man....

I live in Philly and was thinking about 18's...but I told myself....Pothole city..
Got me 17's in anathracite and immediately hit a grand salami....Pulled over...checked it out and thanked myself for being psychic...
My city's the worst when it comes to potholes....They rip up the streets and let them marinate for 2 months before theyre fixed....Man I would have to try and send them back if I was you...Good luck man...Peace.

Its probably just really really bad luck. However, if your driving style and rough terrain are the factors contributing to this, then Id suggest selling them and getting 17 or 18 inch rims, like most people said above.

We will see how I do once I get my 19's on. Good Luck.

1) Get a better brand
2) Step down to 18 or 17

Just step down to 17"s . I cant even keep 18" unbent aroudn these roads for too long, so I could imagine how bad 19s would be.
