i was shopping for some 9006 yellow bulbs and i was told by the sales person that i will lose visibility when i put the yellow 9006 in. is this true? if so how and why? does this mean that i will also lose visibility when installing silverstar h4's?

I remember seeing an article explaining how some of the colored bulbs out there being poor performers. Usually when you move to a higher temperture bulb (the color band like 5000k-8000k color bulbs) the less the lumen you are going to receive. What you want to look for is a bulb with high lumens and candla (CD).
The yellow sould be fairly good because of the two balanced properties mentioned above. The purpleless colored bulbs have less lighting performance than a bulb rated at 4,300-4,800k colored bulbs. For example, do you recall the color wheel of how colors are blended to make other colors, like the blue to purple color to brown and then to a black color. its kind of like this consept. The 4,300k color light is the most optimal light. The whiter the color the better with of course the higher the intensity of the light.
Main idea: is to look for high Lumens and high Candla (CD) rattings...
Here is a better explaination from the site BELL of HID:

If you are looking for the ultimate lighting system, the HID's are the way to go. Am I right on this theory guys??? Hopefully this helps out.:P

HID sucks in foul weather. Yellow cuts through the fog.

In deed they do... Especially if you use the 5000K - 8000k HID kits (the blue and purple lights). The Yellow bulbs are better because of the intensity candla (CD) and the high lumens (amber to yellow color. Yes the blue-purple HID's suck in Foul weather. 4300k's have a good balance of amber (yellowish color) in the light. I thnik they also sell HIDs in yellow ION. blah, blah, blah... Just extra info...

Keep this in mind.

All tints, whether it be tinted windows, tinted glass on a bulb, tinted lenses, are made to block light. You cannot put tint in front of light and make it brighter. Its impossible.

Bulbs can be brighter due to a brighter burning filament, but that generally results in lower bulb lifespan. (as in silverstars, brighter even though its blue-tinted glass on the bulb.) But the tint itself cannot make it any brighter.

BTW for gen1 owners, fogs take 18% more juice than our headlights, so it should be brighter than our headlights.
