Solara Steering Wheel Converted to Lexus Steering Wheel ? ?

Postby 1st Gen Sol » Fri Apr 15, 2005 4:29 pm

I was wondering if I got a Lexus steering wheel from I think the LS model Lexus'......if it would fit onto my Solara ? ? ?

The steering wheels look basically the same and has the identical cruise control, turn signals and tilt in the same locations and the wheel is made basically the same.

I wanted to do this if possible because I like the look of the wheel where the wood lays on both the top and the bottom of steering wheel.

If anybody has done this or knows anything about it your info would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's possible but why? ... it's an expensive wheel (500 to 2200 for Lexus steering wheels)

I like the way the steering wheel looks. Not a first priority, just curious about it because I haven't seen anybody do it which makes it different and unique in my opinion.

As for the price, thats too much for me. If I came across one at a good price that is reasonable for a steering wheel, I would get one but its not on the top of my list.

Thanks

Its the same shape and size of the Lexus bags I think. I'm guessing that you would have to disconnect the bags then remove them and just reconnect and reinstall.......not worried bout that just yet....just curious if the wheel itself will fit first.

The Lexus SC-300 and SC-400 are almost exactly the same as the Solara (minus the lexus being rwd vs. Solara fwd). I was thinking of trying the entire steering set up from one. This way not only would I have the ultra sweet wood grain wheel, but it would also add telescoping (which it should have come with from the factory, cheap Toyota engineers!) instead of just tilting.
