Hi,

It's time to change my timing belt after 130K miles. Appears to have been done at 65k from a sticker I see on engine. I bought this Solara at 93k miles one year ago. It drives very nicely, just put some 18" BSA Racing wheels on it but don't want to compromise the ride by lowering it although I'm sure it would look pretty nice lowered.

I am looking for a reputable and honest repair facility to change the belt out for me that I can take this car to from time to time for work. I live in San Bernardino County (Inland Empire) area. Anyone know of any shops in this area.

Thanks,

KB

Anything closer to Ontario?

Postby 99blksol » Mon May 09, 2005 4:54 pm

It's a SE-V6. What should I do while they are doing the timing belt?
Water pump? Is it a belt or a chain?

Thanks!!!

^^^^ Its a timing belt, no chains. I would suggest getting the water pump done at the sametime so you save yourself the hassle of doing it later on and having to pay double for labor.......My Avalon just hit 100k miles and I gotta bring it in for the Timing Belt and Water pump.

you may contact my friend who is at chino hill. He was working in toyota dealer and he is a certified toyota mechanic. I let him and his bro take care of my turbocharged solara and it was reliable.

his email is zkubidu@verizon.net

Also, if you are in process of changing timing belt, you should change your water pump as well.

I contacted Dave and he seems quite reasonable. Thanks again for the referal!!! My car already just hums along without any major tune up if tens of thousands of miles (132k on it now), and I can just imagine what it will be like with a new timing belt, water pump, major tune and fluid flush! :)
