I have a black 2000 Gen 1 Solara with stock struts/springs. I have the molly kit on it. I was just wondering if anyone has pics of Gen 1 with TRD Body Kit and TRD 17" Rims on it, not lowered.

The reason why I am not lowering is because of the harsh winters in NY, and i've been eye balling the Evo.

You need to come to the east coast. Roads suck and winters suck. I might get dropped anyways, but its understandable why you wouldnt wanna get dropped around here.

The 17" TRDs will bend easily with these NY/NJ roads. I wouldnt recommend them. Get other 17s or even 18s

Go ahead and lower it, it doesn't look right at stock ride height.

Roads in South Bend blow too, especially in winter with the potholes and roadheaves. My 16" wheels and tires absorb the harshness though so you can just swap the wheels in the winter months.

The bad part about being a little lower is if snow and ice build up in the rear wheel well and then it freezes, you can hear the tire hit the ice build up and scrap and it's annoying. Usually melts in the garage though.

Fenix: did you touch up that grill with chrome paint or silver paint after you cut it out? (or did you not touch it at all??)

I'm from Upstate, NY. Damn nice Solara you got there. So since you have the same set up as I do (minus the lowering springs) how do you make out in the winter? I'm just afraid the car is way too low, and when the snow is too high, it will mess up the undercarriage.

That Solara doesn't look bad at all not being lowered. I'm about to lower my car and I live in Kalamazoo, MI (think lots of lake effect snow in the winter). Personally I'm not worried about it since I'll be throwing the stock tires back on for winter. It's not like they don't plow the roads.

Thanks for your comments, I put my stock wheels back on during winter. And I tried not to drive on those side streets since they don't plow as clean as those main streets. All I have to say is to be careful when driving since the car is lowered along with low profile tires.

I don't know this to be fact, but I have read that the TEIN kits have adjustable ride hight struts. If that is the case then that coud be an option for you (In the weeds for spring/summer/fall, up high for our east coast snow storms from hell). Another benifit is you could end up with a better handling car! Hope you find a quality solution, let all of us know, it might help us also!
