2-way tape not sticking on body kit

2-way tape not sticking on body kit

Postby Monkeyman » Sun May 15, 2005 4:35 pm

I installed my TRD body kit on Friday and it looked fine. Saturday night until Sunday afternoon it rained (I should have known it was going to rain on a saturday and sunday, I live in New England!). I did use the adhesion promoter that came wth the kit, but the tape on a few parts is starting to come loose. Is there anything I can do to fix it without having to remove it completely and start from scratch? I'm thinking superglue......

You must remember that the surface temps of both surfaces must be VERY clean and no less then 65 degrees. Not the free air temp the temp of the surface of your car and body kit.

Good luck.

I was afraid of burning the paint (paint was fairly new, kit came in red and I had it painted pearl white). It was pretty warm out here in the berkshires on Friday anyhow.

I used the 3M "wide" Red Tape for some extra hold on my kit......seems fine now......been over a year now and my kit is in tact.

I had the same problem when I first installed the kit where some parts of it was not held on properly by the double face tape included but haven't had any problems ever since.
