Front 18's Rubbing

Front 18's Rubbing

Postby viper1400 » Mon May 16, 2005 9:45 am

Hey guys, I've been running 18's for about a year now, and I have always had a little bit of rubbing on my front tires...sometimes in the back when there is a full load.

The wheels I have are 18x8's with a 38mm offset (no spacers)...at least thats what i was told...and i am running 225/35 tires. In the front, I am rubbing against that little piece on the bottom of the fender that sticks out so that it can hold the plastic wheel well thing in place...i was under the impression that the 38mm offset would be fine for the car, but it seems as if the wheels are sticking too far out???

Any solutions or input would be much appreciated...

it's not rubbing too bad, just when i take a sharp turn while accelerating (low speeds) or when i hit a bump on the road...

it will look a tad awkward. however if you get a tire with a wider foot print, it will look as if it were a 225.

mine didnt rub on the fender that much, but if you are slammed or your diameter is huge, be careful with the ABS wire. that stupid thing rubbed against my tire for being too low while doing some spirited trail driving and it snapped. I relocated it so that its not directly above the tire.

Get a higher offset. . . I have 18 X 7.5 with 45 offset wrapped with 235/45/18 and I don't rub at all.

Hey, i was just thinking, I have KYB struts...do you think this has anything to do with it? Could it be an alignment? Is there any way to fix this with the wheels I currently have? If so, what are my options?? I know I keep on asking questions, but if anyone has maybe a thorough answer, I would really appreciate it...
