Intake Resonator Removal

Intake Resonator Removal

Postby SirMacDaddy » Thu May 19, 2005 7:02 pm

I just recently purchased a 2001 Solara V6 5 speed and i am pretty surprised with its abilities. I also own a 3.2 TL Type S and one thing that i did to it was remove the intake resonator. I was wondering if i should do the same to the solara or should i just leave it. Also, i was wondering if there is a site or a post i should look at to see exactly how to take it out. I have been searching for a while and still cant find a post that tells me exactly how to do this...any reply is greatly appreciated granted that i am noob.

Thanks

Same here! I have read several posts about people taking them out... but I went out today to take mine out and I couldn't even find one. It looks like the hole in the bottom of the intake box leads directly to a tube directly behind the driver's side headlight. I didn't expect this. I was under the impression that the resonator was at the end of the tube...

Can someone give us some detail on this? Thanks!

Just after posting this thread, i just went out to the car and just started going at it...what i had to do was take off the driver-side wheel and then take of the plastic wheel well cover, and then once you got that off, (which takes a little bit to get enough off to fully see the resonator, you see a white box, to the left of the roater. unboalt two boalts and then your done. it should just slide out. once you got it out, put everything back and your done. it sounds really nice i think especially with a k&n drop in filter...
