Solara body kits (bumper) and carbon fiber hood.............

Postby Rookie Solara » Mon Jun 06, 2005 11:21 am

Hi all..........I though after 2 years of modifying the solara (since 99) I would be settle with what I have and move on to something more....family (like mini-van)........unfortunitely, I had a fender bender 3 months ago and damaged the hood, the front bumper, all the head light mounting arms and such. With all those damage, I think having the body shop to replace them with stock parts are just as expensive as the aftermarket parts.............so here is what I want to know....

Beside the Octane R34 kits (which i like cause it came with mesh and the grill)......what other body kits out there for Gen 1 99 solara..?
If for those who has Octane...where you guys get that from and how you like it..? Any problem?

Now...carbon fiber hood...who makes for 99 Solara..? Where and how much?

Thanks for advance...........

This is where I got my CF hood over a year ago and I've had no problems. Good luck putting her back together.

no you ain't howdy, i think last time we chat was like 2yrs ago. i dind't have enough money to get the wrx so i just go with the solara 5spd instead. i figure it would be great for daily uses. it sure is a lot more fun then the AT camry. maybe later down the road if i can sell my solara then i go with the STI

Exactly what I would like to see.....so both are from EBAY..? Do you recall the brand of the carbon fiber hood...? I don't think there are much on the market....just want to make sure they are the same one...

About the VIS bumper....fiber glass, any problem so far..? Paint still there or they are chipping already....? Looks like you only get the front bumper....how much did you paid..? Right now, they sell the full kits for like $280 plus $159 shipping....and they quote me the front bumper is $200 plus $150 shipping....that is almost no different, just want to get some input from you and others...

The reason I ask is....if the paint (or the bumper itself) won't last more then a year or so...I might as well leave my damaged front bumper and hood DAMAGED.....cause at least, it will save me $1000 for milk money...

We have 24" of snow here in Chicago once a year....does anyone tell me the PROS and CONS of fiber glass bumper versus SNOW...?

Thanks again...

Trust me, buying a EVO8 or STi is not your problem......finding a insurance company that will cover you for less then $1g for 6 months is a tough one.....again, I was quoted almost $900 for 6 months.....for a 30+ year old, father, husband, with house, no traffic ticket, no bad record.....etc, still $900 for 6 months, I though I was asking a ENZO Ferrari insurance.....

OK...got a good deal from a local solaraguy for the carbon fiber hood....can't wait to mount that things on....
Now, I need a front bumper..........may be if price is right, I might replace the head lights as well cause all the mounting arms were snapped after the accident...
May be the ricer style rear carbon fiber tail lights....next.

vis hood.
I've had the bumper for about a year and a half now, it was about alittle over $400 shipped i think...the roads that i drive on isn't rough but there is the occasional scrap, nothing major yet. No problems with the paint too.. I swap to the stock bumper during the winter.
From what i've heard...the octane side skirts and rear bumper is a bad fit so u'll need to shell out more $$$ to get it flush.
