Headlight burnout

Anybody know how to go about changing a headlight bulb on an 00 model. Turned my car on yesterday and low beam on the left side is out.. high beam still works though. Went and bought some silverstars to replace both headlight bulbs, but a look under the hood tells me this is either a really hard process or I'm missing something.
It's mostly the car.

on the right hand side of your screen there is a "SEARCH" button, its useful....
in short to ans your questions you need small hands to go around the battery to replace bulbs, the passanger is jiffy - play with that and you'll get it, its a drivers side that can be a b!tch if you have fat arms!

Sup Bro,

If its on the driver side, it's going to be tight (mainly due to the battery in the way).

First off, you'll need to pull the plug on the bulb (3-way connector).

Second, the grommet that seals the H4 bulb and the headlamp housing will need to be removed to get the H4 bulb.

Three, Once the grommet is removed, you will see a locking-pin housed in the head lamp housing that needs to be release (this pin lever is spring loaded to latch the bulb to the bulb opening).

Four, the bulb is now fished out of the limited space between the battery, PDB (power distrbution box (Main fuse box in the engine bay)) and the back H-lamp cover/opening.

Now you are ready to place the replacement bulb back into the assembly.

Just repeat steps four to one to reassemble. It should take nomore than 15 minutes. Just remenber not to touch the bulb glass..... if so touched, the life expectancy is shortened mainly due to the grease from your fingers. :-?

You can find illustration on how to do this procedure in the 2000 Solara owners manual under bulb replacements or search for bulbs. Best of luck Bro...

Peace,
-G

Really simple if you have any experience turning things to tighten and loosen them.

Check your owner's manual if you need any further help, its in there

I just changed mine out to the Silverstars as well.

The battery issue can be made much easier by looseneing the 2 nuts holding the battery in place which will allow you to slide it over and back a few inches. It's still a little tight, but made a lot easier this way.

Heh, I just yank the battery out. Solves all sorts of problems. Then again... I'm not very attached to my radio pre-sets. ;-)

Thanks for the replies guys, I ended up kinda figuring it out by luck. Driver's side was kind of a bitch though. Now just gotta wait for nighttime to see if it came out alright.
